Tip 1: Set some goals around what you would ideally like to achieve during the festive season and commit to them 100%. You always get what you focus on the most, so make sure your goals are healthy ones during the not so healthy season. Remember to make your goals as realistic as possible so that achieving them is in balance with the extra curricular demands of your social calendar.

Tip 2: Plan ahead
Planning will help reduce the possibility of any interruptions to your weekly schedule. Once you have identified an achievement plan for each of your goals, create a list of alternative strategies that you can apply if any obstacles do arise.
Invariably something will come up no matter how strong your best intentions are to stay on track, so it is important to remain flexible.  Allowing yourself to be flexible means you will not beat yourself up for not sticking fully to your goal achievement plans during the festive season.

Tip 3: Watch what you eat
If you are going to be eating out at a function or event , ring the restaurant or venue in advance and check that the menu supports your nutritional goals. If not, then fill yourself up on natural, healthy food a few hours beforehand so that you only need to eat the healthiest entre or a salad.
If you are going to drink alcohol, keep hydrated by consuming one glass of water between each alcoholic drink. This will be in addition to the 2 -3 litres of purified water that you normally drink throughout the day.

Tip 4: Perform at least 30 minutes of exercise 3 or more times per week.
A successful training program will include a combination of resistance, cardio and flexibility training. I strongly recommend that you perform your exercise program in the mornings before work, so that you avoid any possible distractions.

Tip 5: Achieve your goals with a friend or family member.
This will keep you both accountable to each other and enhance the adherence to your goal achievement plan.
