I am sending you a short, yet powerful story of a demonstration that occurred during my Attracting Abundance workshop.

At every meeting, I demonstrate on one of the students while the rest of the group is Borrowing Benefits. Hanna (not her real name), a clothes designer, said that whenever she has an idea about how she could make money, she begins with lots of enthusiasm, creativity and hope, but after a while, she is left with many unsold items.

When we checked her level of intensity, it was 5 out of 10. So we started tapping, Even though I always start with enthusiasm I am always left with so much stuff… We used, so many things unsold, left with boxes, left with so much stuff, as reminder phrases.

As I noticed a change in her expression, I decided to check how she felt. She said that the discomfort she felt was now higher, and that it's now at 8 out of 10. As we all know, this indicates a new aspect that had come into the picture. I asked her where she felt that in her body. She said it was in her chest.

"Can you describe the feeling?” I asked, using my knowledge and skills from guided imagery and the one-brain technique, (my other specialty) and guided her to use different senses or metaphors. When we release something, doing a diffusion, the results are always better when we use a variety of senses and metaphors.

Hanna said, "It feels like a box. It has sharp corners. It is cold - and the colour is blue." We had lots of information about this box, and we tapped I have this blue, cold, sharp cornered box in my chest, and it feels like an 8… Reminders included - blue box, cold, sharp corners that hurt me. While tapping on that she said, "money issues were always a secret at my parents' house. My parents overprotected me."

Things started to evolve, as they always do with EFT, like a rose petal that opens very slowly (or very quickly) and we proceeded, tapping for that.

Even though my parents never discussed money matters with me, it was a secret. They over-protected me. I was kept in a box, and the secret was kept in a box as well… As reminder phrases we used, kept in a box, was never discussed, over protected.

After a few rounds, Hanna said that she felt relieved, as the box wasn't there anymore. I said, "Let's go back to the fact that money wasn't discussed with you. What else is there?"

She replied, "Money was always considered to be a grownup’s thing, not children's business. My parents used to say, 'You are just a child. Enjoy yourself, have fun. You play now, and when you grow up, then you deal with it.’ They always repeated, ‘the main thing is enjoy yourself and have fun.’"

"How does this affect you now when you articulate this?" I asked. She said, "I remember I used to go to the local grocery store and buy sweets for all my friends, have fun, party, and my parents would pay the bills. I understood nothing about money."

I asked her to repeat that phrase; ‘I understand nothing about money’ and I asked, “What do you feel?" She said she had cramps in her lower abdomen at a level of intensity of 5 out of 10.

I wanted to demonstrate Gary's technique of choosing a specific event - even though we were not really dealing with a trauma or a painful memory. It was more an issue of a cognitive and self-image case. But, as I said, it was a demonstration and I wanted to teach some things, so I asked Hanna to see if she could remember a specific event from her childhood that is connected to our topic.

Nothing came up so I suggested she close her eyes, and see herself as a child in her neighbourhood. Hanna could see the street, the local grocery shop and said it was like a two-dimensional picture … like a postcard.

We all know that sometimes we have this intuitive guidance that dawns on us for different reasons. In this case, it was Hanna's face and voice. I suggested that she has to sense whether these words belong to her or not:

Even though a part of me just remained there in my childhood, as if it frozen there, I love and accept myself, with all my segments.

She nodded in agreement. "Yes," she said. "I have all these ideas. I want to remain this little girl; creative, a playful child, worry-free, but now I'm an adult and it is I who have to pay the bills - not my parents."

We tapped a few more rounds for that, and then tapped on, Even though I want to keep all those childish characteristics, I need them all for my creativity and enthusiasm, I also want to recognize the adult part of me, and I fully and completely love and accept and respect both my parts.

Even though, I have these two parts in me, I choose to create a bridge between them. (In Hebrew the word bridge GESHER sounds very much like the word contact KESHER and so we used both words). I choose to respect the creative enthusiastic part of me and respect and recognize my adult, responsible part. I can be both things at the same time.

Then we tapped alternating, I am creative, I am responsible for my money issues, I am enthusiastic, I can handle money issues, I can have both parts functioning at the same time, not having to be a child or an adult. We tapped a few rounds for that, and when she suddenly had a big beautiful smile and gave me a warm strong hug, we ended the demonstration which lasted for about an hour. Hanna said afterwards that she experienced a strong sense of unity. She felt light and enthusiastic.

The following morning, Hanna called to thank me. "I have a little anecdote for you," she said. "A few minutes ago, my mother called asking what I did last night. I told her about your workshop and the EFT technique. She said, ‘well, as long as you enjoy yourself and have fun.’ I heard the same words I used yesterday - but this time I heard them from a distance - with a smile.”

Again, I have had the pleasure of watching the wonders of this gentle, intelligent and inspiring technique.

With warm regards,
