Hi everyone,
I went to a special tree climbing place (Arbre-en-Arbre at Mirabel, QC) this past Saturday. It was a real blast but as I'm not much of a sporty person most of the time, my muscles were not used to so much activity.
Sunday and even Monday morning, different parts of my body were not quite so happy about the "fun" they had had over the weekend. Having had that experience before, I knew what would work wonderfully to ease the "suffering" of my generally under-used muscles.
I tapped beginning with the parts that were most noticably complaining:
Even though my left shoulder muscles are tight and painful, I completely love and accept myself. Reminder phrases: My left shoulder muscles, they're tight and painful, they're not so happy we went tree climbing, they're tired from all that work, can lift them without pain.
Even though my right shoulder muscles and all my upper back are kind of tight and painful, I completely love and accept myself. Reminder phrases: Right shoulder and upper back muscles are tight, tight and painful, coming back to normal, releasing the pain, too much climbing.
Even though my thigh muscles are tight and painful, I completely love and accept myself. Reminder phrases: Painful thighs, stretched out thigh muscles, abused thigh muscles, climbed-out thigh muscles.
Then I did my left forearm, my right shoulder blade (which seemed to still be holding some pain even after I did the right shoulder) and my neck, all with wording that was similar and simple but specific to that body part. As usual, the more specific you are, the better the results.
I checked each body part in turn as I went along and the pain and discomfort was always considerably less after a round or two. I didn't feel like spending too much time on it so as soon as it was more than tolerable in one area (I have a VERY low pain threshold - believe me it was VERY tolerable), I would move on to another body part.
Honestly, why suffer when it can be SO easy to eliminate unnecessary muscle pain in these cases?
Go fearlessly now to your first aerobics class/to bike for 2 hours/to rock climb with friends/to canoe the rapids and when those uncomfortable feelings show up in your body, just tap. Your sporty friends might laugh at your silly-looking antics but they're the ones that will be groaning from muscle pain while you're ready to go again in a few minutes.
You might just have one less reason not to exercise. :)
Tap, tap, tap! |
