Since I moved in with my boyfriend, I also moved in with his cat. She's a cutey. She's 14 years old and basically pretty quiet.
She
has a bit of a thyroid problem for which she takes pills, and which
will probably be my next experiment, but she also has a more outwardly
obvious problem: she rips out chunks of her fur around the base of her
tail.
This causes a few issues: 1. She swallows huge chunks of
fur which become hairballs which are no fun for her or us as they
eventually become barf on our floors or carpets, 2. The fur she doesn't
swallow ends up lying in clumps pretty much everywhere in the house but
more often on our bed or the couch, and 3. It leaves parts of her body
with areas which have very little and very short fur.
I thought I could try some surrogate tapping on her just to see.
I
started by taking a closer look at the place where she was ripping the
hair out and saw what looked like dandruff on the skin where she was
ripping. As she is an animal and I imagine she has no psychological
reversal issues (though I could be wrong), I tapped with no set-up
phrases doing a couple of rounds similar to these:
I have dandruff. It's so itchy. My skin is so dry. It's flaky. It's itchy. I have to get to the skin with my teeth. I just have to scratch it. I have dry, flaky skin.
I then ended by doing a round or two on some positive ideas like these:
My body is in perfect balance. I feel calm and relaxed. My skin is supple and well hydrated. My fur is full and thick.
I
had to wait a bit to see if the hair was growing in but I noticed that
the very base, where she was originally ripping out the hair, seems to
be growing back. I can see she is still ripping out fur but the spot
has moved a little bit further up the tail now. I'm very excited
because I see this as a version of "Chasing the Pain". I call it
"Chasing the Fur Ripping" and I have tapped again for this new spot
using pretty much the same phrasing as the last time.
I will let
you know how it goes but I am encouraged to continue. As we can often
do with pain in humans, with perseverance I believe we will chase the
"fur ripping" right out of her body.
Have a wonderful week! |
